Carnival, Costumes and Props
Carnivals and Costumes
Plastazote is used in the construction of many of the extravagant costumes, head-dresses and floats seen at Carnival events. Available in a wide range of vibrant colours, Plastazote is an exceptionally lightweight and durable material making it the ideal choice for costumes.
The materials are non-toxic and can be easily cut with scissors, carved with craft knifes, sawn, sanded, drilled, welded with heat guns and hot wire cut into both simple and complex shapes. They are crosslinked foams and therefore suitable for ‘direct to body’ low temperature thermoforming.
Live Action Role Play (LARP)
Plastazote is widely used in padding for armour, making swords, shields, battle axes and other weaponry. It is light weight and safe to use and yet still retains the mechanical strength to appear realistic.
Models and Puppetry
Plastazote has been used quite extensively within the Modelling and Stop-Motion Animation sectors. The material characteristics allow for a firm hollow shape to be maintained for internal mechanical animation servos and associated wiring. The high purity of Plastazote and its effortless manipulation has made it an excellent model making material.
Film and Theatre
Many stage productions use Plastazote in their costumes and props. Its wide range of vibrant colours and durability ensure it performs as long as the production does. Plastazote is becoming increasingly popular in the production of action movies in Hollywood due to its superb impact absorption.
